Madrid, Spain, is the newest member of Challenge Family.
One of the World’s greatest sporting cities will play host to a World-class triathlon as Madrid becomes the newest member of the CHALLENGEFAMILY world series of triathlons. The inaugural CHALLENGEMADRID full distance event will take place on September 24, 2017 with the event finish line located in the centre of Madrid, which is visited by thousands of tourists from across the World every day.

3.8km CHALLENGEMADRID Swim Course
The Challenge Madrid swim course is conducted 75 kilometres from the capital, surrounded by holm-oak woods, oak- woods and pine woods at the Canal de Isabel II. Located in the Lozoya Valley, in the middle of the North Mountain Range (“Sierra Norte”), this is one of the most enchanting and attractive touristic areas of the region of Madrid: Buitrago de Lozoya.
180km CHALLENGEMADRID Bike Course
The bike course will traverse through stunning locations in the Madrilenian Sierra, and goes through the famous tour of the mountain passes with the ascents to Canencia, Morcuera and Cotos.
Starting at the Canal de Isabel II in Buitrago de Lozoya, passing through Villavieja de Lozoya (km6), San Mamés (km 9,9), Gargantilla (km 13,7), Canencia village (km 22,8), Canencia Mountain Pass (km 32,3), Miraflores de la Sierra (km 38,4), Morcuera Mountain Pass (km 49,1), Rascafría (km 63,4), Cotos Mountain Pass (Km 79,9), Navacerrada Mountain Pass (km 86,4), Fuente del Ventorrillo, El Escorial, Valdemorillo, Villanueva de la Cañada, entering Madrid through M-508 road, crossing Casa de Campo and arriving at Explanada del Rey in Madrid Río.
42.2km CHALLENGEMADRID Run Course
The Challenge Madrid run course is a 5 lap course that covers almost all of the Madrid River area (“Madrid Río”). The run leg finishes will finish with the ascent to the Cuesta de la Vega, before incorporating itself to Mayor Street, and entering the Puerta del Sol where the truly unforgettable finish line awaits.
For international visitors to Madrid there is a never ending array of cultural and entertainment options including thePlaza Mayor, Museo Nacional Del Prado, and the Royal Palace of Madrid a regal 2,000-room palace, armory and garden. For sports fans a visit to Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, home ground of the famouse Real Madrid football team, is a must.
