Challenge St Andrews

Next Race: TBC July 2017

Challenge Family’s newest event in North America set in the idyllic Maritime Province of New Brunswick and the historic resort town of St Andrews-by-the-Sea.

Five reasons to race

  1. Spectacular course on the shores of the world famous Bay of Fundy
  2. Beautiful sheltered saltwater swim course in Katy’s Cove
  3. Challenging  bike course overlooking the Bay of Fundy and  the USA state of Maine.
  4. Multiple family events throughout race weekend that take advantage of the beautiful location
  5. Run course one of the most picturesque in the sport of triathlon combining ocean views, historic sites and the most welcoming volunteers.

The inaugural Kingsbrae Garden Challenge St. Andrews will be a half distance event that starts and finishes at the beautiful Algonquin Resort in historic St. Andrews-by-the-Sea. The race weekend also includes the Challenge Expo, the TRI St. Andrews Sprint Distance Triathlon and the Beat the Tide 5 mile run race as well as the Kids Junior Race through the beautiful Kingsbrae Gardens.

The swim takes place in picturesque “Katy’s Cove” which is controlled by a causeway that allows the cold Bay of Fundy water to warm up to a comfortable 22-degree average in July. This swim course is spectacular, with lake-like conditions in a salt water swim. Athletes will then run up the hill to the Algonquin Resort and depart on their bikes which again will offer beautiful views of the Bay of Fundy and St. Croix River. Cyclists will pass by St. Croix Island where the explorer Samuel de Champlain set up camp upon discovering the region over 400 years ago. The bike course overlooks the Bay of Fundy and the USA state of Maine.

Returning to St. Andrews and the Algonquin Resort, runners will head off on one of the most spectacular run courses in the sport. Runners will have views of several islands in Passamaquoddy Bay and then run through the heart of this historic community along the St. Andrews downtown water front. Along the way, runners will also pass by one of the award winning Kingsbrae Garden which will play host to many activities race week.

The week will be full of opportunities for all family members and will conclude with the Maritime “Kitchen Party” Banquet and Awards ceremony on Sunday evening. This event will feature the best that the award winning Algonquin Resort has to offer and will also feature live music, dancing and of course, awards.
